-
- This program is shareware. Please register (see below).
-
- Port-a-Quicken is a program that will allow you to use your
- Portfolio to keep track of financial transactions that you normally
- would load into Quicken (which is a trademark of Intuit ... a
- company with which I am in no way affiliated). Let's say you're
- away on a trip with the portfolio, and you write a check. Just use
- Port-a-Quicken to make a note of the check, and you can use Quicken's Import
- feature to bring the file into your desktop PC!
-
- This program is quite simple to use. Just type QUICK to get started.
-
- The program will ask you for a filename. Input the name of the file you
- want to store the checking information in. If this file doesn't exist, it
- will be created. If it already exists, the new information will be added
- to the end. (I have the program set up to default to A:\QUICKEN.TXT ... if
- you want to use that file as well, just hit ENTER when asked for a filename).
-
- Then the program asks you for what you would input into Quicken:
-
- Date: Enter in MM/DD/YY format. Example: 11/30/90
- Amount (with -): Enter the amount spent. If it's a deposit, just input the
- number. If it's a payment, input the number preceded
- with a - sign. Example: -5.00
- Number: Enter the check number. Example: 125. Or even ATM.
- Payee: Enter the name of the person or company to whom you
- wrote the check. Example: David E. Stewart
- Memo: Enter a note about the transaction. Example: Registration fee
- Category: Enter the category of the transaction. Example: Misc. Note: If
- you enter a category that is not recognized by
- Quicken, it will ask you to re-enter it during import mode.
-
- The program will then ask if you wish to continue. Enter y to do it again;
- enter lowercase n to stop.
-
- When you want to import this information into Quicken, you'll have to transfer
- the data to your PC first. (I use a PC Card Drive from Atari; it's great!)
- Then get into Quicken's register, hit F2, select Import, and enter the
- filename. That's it!
-
- Some notes:
-
- This program works with Quicken Version 3.0 Once again, I'm not associated
- with Intuit in any way, and Quicken is a trademark of that company. This
- program may or may not work with other versions; I haven't tried. If you
- can't get it to import, send me a copy of the page in your documentation about
- the format of your version's import/export files, and I'll revise the program
- to suit you (although you MUST register for me to do this).
-
- This program also works on a desktop PC.
-
- WHY YOU SHOULD REGISTER:
-
- A. Because this is a copyrighted program.
- B. Because we all need more software on the Portfolio, and I would love to
- write it ... but I need some money to buy the developer's guide book!
- C. Because it's only $5 ...
-
- HERE'S WHAT YOU GET:
-
- For your $5, you'll be a registered user. What's that mean? Well, I'll
- save your name and address so you can be alerted to other Portfolio programs
- that I'm developing, and get special offers on them.
-
- HOW TO SAVE SOME MONEY:
-
- You could save $5 by not registering at all, but do you want that guilt? How
- about saving $1 instead by sending in $4 and a good programming idea for
- the Portfolio? If I implement your idea, you will get a share of the
- registration profits from it! If I don't, then you still saved a dollar. Not
- a bad deal, eh?
-
- Send your registration check ($5 or $4 and a program idea) to:
-
- David Stewart
- 1280 Royvonne Ave. SE #23
- Salem, OR 97302
-
- (Please specify your IBM PC disk size for when I send updates).
-
- Technical note: This program was written with Microsoft QuickPascal version
- 1.0. If you want source code, tack an extra $20 onto the registration check,
- and I'll send that along.
-
- ALSO AVAILABLE:
-
- Port-a-Sketch: Draw with your portfolio! $5 registration required.
